Growing populations in coastal West Africa and Cape Verde face natural hazard that pose significant health risk to the overall population. The hazards including: Flooding, Saharan dust and tropical cyclones impacting food security, economic development and public health. I discuss each of these hazards and the possibility of using available observations and modeling tools to protect vulnerable populations.
