Abstract: Much progress has been made over the last decade in understanding the effect of climate change on tropical cyclones. In this talk, I will attempt to summarize what has been learned about this connection, and present some new findings that seem to suggest that cooling of the lower stratosphere has played an important role in the recent upswing in Atlantic hurricane activity.
