The following six animations show simulations for the month of January.
Red isosurface of 40 meters/second winds. Height and topography exagerrated by a factor of 200. White clouds are mapped to the globe's surface.
Yellow and red areas show high precipitation. Clouds are faded in and out for correlation.
From the North pole to the South pole along meridian of 90 degrees west longitude, as in jetstream and precipitation animations. Temperature scale.
The earth's rotation is frozen to view clouds for the entire month of January at three hour intervals. Winter stars move in response to camera motion northward.
The dateline is visible as a thin meridian line. Winter storms corss the North Pacific, as a strong equatorial intertropical convergence zone is seen.
